Xcopri (cenobamate) is a prescription drug used to treat partial-onset seizures in adults. Currently, it is not known whether Xcopri (cenobamate) is safe and effective in children.

Who can use Xcopri(Cenobamat)?

Cenobamate is a new type of antiepileptic drug that has both voltage-gated sodium channel inhibitory effects and positive allosteric modulatory function on γ-aminobutyric acid type A (GABAA) receptors. It inhibits abnormal neuronal discharge through a dual mechanism: on the one hand, it blocks sodium ion channels, reducing high-frequency repetitive discharge of neurons; on the other hand, it effectively lowers the seizure threshold by enhancing GABA-mediated inhibitory neurotransmission.
