Gefapixant tablets, as a prescription drug, must strictly adhere to specific storage conditions, while also paying attention to package integrity and dispensing specifications to prevent physical damage or accidental ingestion risks, thereby ensuring medication safety.

I. Routine Storage Conditions and Requirements

1. Temperature Control

(1) Gefapixant tablets should be stored at room temperature, avoiding exposure to excessively high or low temperatures.

(2) Refrigeration or freezing is not required; storage at normal room temperature is sufficient.

2. Package Protection

(1) The drug should be kept in its original packaging to prevent moisture or light exposure.

(2) The original packaging (e.g., PTP aluminum blister sheets) provides good moisture-proof and light-proof performance. Do not arbitrarily disassemble or transfer to other containers before use.

3. Dry Environment

(1) The storage location should be dry and well-ventilated, avoiding places with high humidity such as bathrooms or kitchens.

(2) Excessive humidity may cause tablets to absorb moisture, discolor, or disintegrate, affecting the stability of the active ingredients.

II. Expiration Date and Pre-use Inspection

1. Confirmation of Expiration Date

(1) The expiration period of this product is 48 months from the date of manufacture.

(2) Patients should check the expiration date on the outer packaging after receiving the medication to ensure use within the valid period. Expired drugs must not be taken.

2. Regular Inspection of Drug Condition

Before taking, observe the tablet appearance. If any abnormalities such as color change, spots, cracked tablets, or unusual odor are found, do not use the drug even if it is still within the expiration date, and promptly consult a pharmacist.

3. Avoid Prolonged Repackaging

If repackaging into a pill organizer for portability is needed, only repackage a short-term supply (e.g., 1 week's worth). The remaining drug should be kept in its original packaging and properly stored to avoid prolonged exposure to air that may cause deterioration.

III. Dispensing Safety and Special Precautions

1. Correct Dispensing from PTP Packaging

(1) The aluminum-plastic (PTP) packaging of this product is designed for unit-dose protection.

(2) Each time before taking, press the aluminum foil backing to push the tablet out of the plastic blister. Do not swallow the entire aluminum foil sheet together with the tablet.

(3) Accidental swallowing of sharp, rigid aluminum foil pieces may scratch the esophagus, and even cause perforation, mediastinal infection, or other serious injuries.

2. Store Out of Reach of Children

(1) All prescription drugs should be placed in locked or elevated cabinets that are inaccessible to children and pets, to prevent accidental handling or ingestion.

(2) Special care should be taken not to leave tablets casually on tabletops, beside pillows, or in other places easily reached by young children.

3. Avoid Carrying in Extreme Environments

(1) When going out, avoid leaving the drug for prolonged periods in enclosed high-temperature car interiors or in direct sunlight; also, pay attention to sealing in humid weather.

(2) For short trips, take only the required dose in a carry-on bag. It is not recommended to keep the entire box for extended periods in environments with large temperature fluctuations.
