Proper storage of carbachol and brimonidine tartrate ophthalmic solution (Yuvezzi) is an important prerequisite for ensuring stability of efficacy and guaranteeing safe medication use.

I. Appropriate Storage Environment

1. Temperature Control

(1) Unopened medicinal products should be stored at room temperature between 36°F and 77°F (i.e., 2°C to 25°C).

(2) Avoid placing in excessively hot environments (e.g., enclosed cars in summer, near heating vents) or excessively cold environments (e.g., freezer compartment of a refrigerator).

(3) Excessive heat may accelerate degradation of active ingredients, while excessive cold may cause crystallization or osmotic pressure changes, affecting efficacy and ocular comfort.

2. Protection from Light

(1) The solution is green-yellow in color and sensitive to light.

(2) Unused single-dose vials must be kept in the original aluminum foil pouch until immediately before use.

(3) The aluminum foil pouch effectively blocks light and prevents photodegradation.

(4) Do not remove single-dose vials in advance and place them in transparent pill organizers or on bright countertops for prolonged exposure, as this may cause deterioration of the solution.

3. Dryness and Sealing

(1) The entire carton should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from humid areas such as bathrooms or near kitchen sinks.

(2) Moisture may penetrate the packaging, compromising the seal of the aluminum foil pouch or causing labels to become illegible. At the same time, avoid heavy pressure or crushing of the packaging to prevent damage to the single-dose vials.

II. Inspection and Assessment Before Use

1. Observe the Physical Characteristics of the Solution

(1) The normal solution should be a clear, green-yellow liquid, free from visible particles, turbidity, or precipitate.

(2) If the color is markedly abnormal (e.g., darker, brownish, or faded), or if flocculent material or crystals appear in the vial, the solution has become unstable and should be discarded.

2. Check Packaging Integrity

(1) Confirm that the aluminum foil pouch is intact and sealed, and that the single-dose vial has no cracks or damage.

(2) If the packaging is damaged or the cap is loose, there may be a risk of microbial contamination, and the product should not be used.

3. Verify Storage Time Limits

(1) The expiration date is printed on the carton and the aluminum foil pouch; expired products must not be used.

(2) Additionally, if the product has been exposed to temperatures exceeding recommended limits for a prolonged period (e.g., high temperature inside a car in summer), even if appearance appears normal, consult a pharmacist regarding whether it is still usable.

III. Handling After Opening and Disposal

1. Use Immediately and Discard; Do Not Store Remaining Solution

(1) Each single-dose vial is for single use only. After instilling both eyes, any remaining solution in the vial must be discarded immediately, regardless of the amount left.

(2) This product contains no preservatives. Once opened, sterility is no longer guaranteed. Any leftover solution must not be saved for future use, as this may lead to serious ocular infection.

2. Disposal Method

(1) Used empty vials and any remaining solution should be disposed of in household trash, out of reach of children and pets.

(2) Do not flush down the toilet or drain, to avoid environmental contamination.
